Mary D. Nettleman, MD, MS

Chairperson of the Department of Medicine
Professor of Medicine

Dr. Nettleman, Chairperson of the Department of Medicine at Michigan State University College of Human Medicine (effective September 1, 2003) previously served as Associate Dean of the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine. In addition to serving as Associate Dean for Primary Care at VCU, Dr. Nettleman was Division Chair of Internal Medicine and a tenured professor in the departments of Internal Medicine and Preventive Medicine. A nationally recognized expert in several areas, including epidemiologic and health outcomes research, she was at VCU from 1996-2003. Previously, she was on faculty at the University Of Iowa College Of Medicine. Dr. Nettleman has also served as Chief Medical Officer of the Primary Care Consortium at VCU Health System's Stony Point Medical Center. She is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians. Dr. Nettleman earned her medical degree from Vanderbilt University, and also has an M.S. in Preventive Medicine/Epidemiology from the University of Iowa.
