Resident Life

Welcome Reception

Resident RetreatThe Program Director welcomes the new residents and their families in the summer, inviting them to a social picnic at a local park. This provides an opportunity for the newly arriving families to get to know each other, and starts the yearly resident social season.

Resident Retreat

Each year the Chief Resident organizes a one-day retreat. This provides a day of discussion on careers, coping with stress, time management and various other topics of the residents choosing.

Nights OutNights Out

Each residency class is given a special night for a fun group event, including a night on the town free from hospital duties. In the fall, the PGY1 class has a group night out, the second-years have a night of fun in the winter, and the PGY3 class then has a night all their own in the spring.

Graduation Dinner

At the end of the academic year, there is a formal graduation awards ceremony, attended by all residents and their families. At this point we say good-bye & best wishes to those graduating from the program as well as welcoming the new residents into the program.

Welcome PicnicResident-directed Social Events
