Robert Smith, MD, MS
Professor of Medicine
Dr. Smith earned his M.D. at the University of Iowa and his M.S. at Harvard University's School of Public Health in Clinical Epidemiology. His research interests include doctor-patient communications and relationships, medically unexplained symptoms, somatization, teaching patient-centered interviewing, and other psychosocial principles. Dr. Smith is interested in the role of research to improve psychosocial practices and as a vehicle to gain acceptance, evidenced by rigorous teaching of psychosocial practices in the mainstream of primary care.
