Our Mission
We are a dynamic, learner-centered program focusing on our residents' individual needs and goals to produce excellent physicians.
Michigan State University/Sparrow Hospital Internal Medicine Residency is a proud recipient of the highly competitive Picker Institute - ACGME Challenge Grant for Patient- Centered Care for 2008-2009.
We are one of four recipients selected from all ACGME-accredited residency programs. Our project, "Patient-Centered Training of Residents on a medical Ward," builds upon our highly successful Psychosocial Rotation and an evidence-based method for Patient-centered interviewing previously described by Dr. Robert Smith, key faculty member. It also explores a new realm of multidisciplinary teams -- patient centered care.
